We all know the Kentucky Derby is a Kentucky thing. It’s literally in the name. Racetracks in Texas are outnumbered by rodeo arenas and football stadiums by a pretty wide margin, but I believe there are plenty of things that are “Texas-adjacent.” So, when you consider that there are hats, horses, and cold drinks involved, it’s not much of a stretch to say that a Kentucky Derby shindig was right up my alley when the Run for the Roses came up this year.
As a way to kick off the event side of this endeavor, the team at Credence decided to send out a few invites for a watch party right on our front doorstep. Do we remember who won the race? Not really. Do we remember why they won? I’m guessing they had the fastest horse. What I do remember is that we had some killer bites prepared by our culinary team, ice-cold cocktails, and cheered for all of those million-dollar equines running their asses off. If that’s not Texas-adjacent, then I’m not sure what is.

The only thing more famous than the Kentucky Derby are the hats that make an appearance. I’m pretty sure a few of these would double as a life raft in an emergency.

I’ve got nothing against Kentucky Fried Chicken, but the dishes at our party didn’t come in a bucket and the only secret spice blend came from the saltwater of the Gulf.
