About Levi
Growing up with boots on both sides of the border (Houston, TX / Tampico, MX) taught Levi early that cooking is about sharing a way of life—and a way of doing things—much more than it is just combining ingredients.
Levi was as green as the mesquite outside his restaurants when his father started Goode Company BBQ back in ’77. Raised in the business, Levi now serves as president of Goode Co. Restaurants, where his evolution of these iconic local establishments has earned him nods from James Beard for outstanding restaurateur as well as a flourishing family of brands. Perhaps most rewardingly, it has stoked his continued appetite for sharing creative new concepts that blend his laid-back charm and distinctive point of view.
What makes Levi’s cooking and his restaurants so special is what makes them so Texan. They are not just “this thing” or “that thing” but a lifetime layering of flavors and influences that point intimately to specific people, places, memories, and rituals that run deep through his family and heritage—coastal Gulf waters and the Cajun heartland, crackling campfires and cooking al carbon. That celebrate the very best of his region and signature styles of cooking while exploring global aspects of presentation, hospitality, and a damn good time.
Certain elements sing louder depending on the story his work is telling—but the real beauty is in the boundless ways they’re brought together. And bringing things together—ideas, ingredients, and best of all, people—is what Levi lives to do.
